Letters Written on Our Hearts
Where Is Your Shelter Place?
Tuesday, July 6, 2021 by Rosie J. Williams
Funny how
When things fall away
We don’t know quite how to act or what to do
We see more clearly now, quarantine bound, how some things we scrambled for before
The meaningless things we gripped so tightly
Slipped away one by one
“They” say to shelter in place
But where is that place?
And is it safe?
And why is it we feel like when the doors swing back open, we must grab back the familiar?
If we were chasing after meaningless things,
then why are we so anxious to grab back control of them?
Perhaps it’s the fear of
Total surrender
Or life-altering change.
Could it be
That the blinders needed to be stripped away
In order for us see more clearly
Our calling?
