Letters Written on Our Hearts
New Day-New Compassion!
Sunday, November 1, 2020 by Rosie J. Williams
I was sitting in my office early this morning, reading my Bible and contemplating some things that had recently left me discouraged. As usual, the Word of God came alive to me…personal affirmations of God’s presence and strength in these early morning hours. That’s when I heard the tune “O what a beautiful morning, O what a beautiful day”.
What was this? A cell phone ring? I didn’t recognize it. I quietly opened my bedroom door so I would not disturb my sleeping husband and saw on the dresser a little clock I had purchased at an estate sale earlier in the month. It had been sitting there all this time, and now, this morning as the Lord spoke quiet whispers of His love, my little vintage musical alarm clock echoed the verses I had just read. “His compassions never fail; they are new every morning” (Lamentations 3:22-23) and “In the morning, O Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation” (Psalm 5:3).
Whatever situation you are facing today, my friend, I pray you may see the hope of this new day and allow the compassionate love of the Lord minister to your hurting heart.
