Letters Written on Our Hearts

When You Don't Feel The Love
Saturday, August 1, 2020 by Rosie J. Williams

I love sending those little heart emojis when I’m watching or listening online. Those hearts are more than a thumbs up-they are a response to something that really touched my heart.

Like a grandchild’s picture
Like a thoughtful blog post
Like an inspirational song
Like a loving comment someone has made

It’s fun to be on the receiving end of those little floating hearts.

But then there are those angry, red-faced emojis that pop up sometimes. Or the teary-eyed ones or the boo-hooing ones! Even on Valentine’s Day…the truth is sometimes we don’t feel the love.  Have you noticed how quickly in real life that one word or action can change a heart to an angry face in such a flash that we stand there wondering “what just happened?” or how much of a heart-void there is when the object of our love is just flat out gone, through divorce, death or distance? Or have you noticed how fragile love can be? Or what about the heart-ache when someone you once sent valentines to is estranged?

Just this morning, an online friend shared how she felt like God Himself had abandoned her!

So, I decided to look away from the lack of love, and to look at the Source of love-God “who loved the world and He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16 NLT)!

God really gave us part of His heart when He gave us Jesus, and then He gave us His Holy Spirit to live within our hearts if we just believe and confess Him as Lord. The Living God within because of His:
Steadfast Love (Psalms 107:15)
Inseparable Love (Romans 8:38)
Grace-filled Love (2 John 1:3)
God’s heart to ours, filling the empty spaces with His Love (Ezekiel 36:26)
Unfailing, gentle Love (Psalms 145:8)
Eternal love (Jude 1:21)

“Beloved”, He calls us! (I Corinthians 4:14)
Un-ending hearts all around for everyone!
All that’s left is for us to give him ours.
